Dr. Gnaim is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he graduated with Honors and is a member of the esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He then returned to the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston for his Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology Fellowships during which he received multiple awards, including the prestigious Cardiology Fellow of the Year Award. He also served as Chief Cardiology Fellow during his Fellowship.
Dr. Gnaim is currently the Medical Director of the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital Cardiac Cath Lab. He specializes in minimally invasive treatment of peripheral arterial disease and is able to fix blockages located in the legs, arms, and carotid arteries through a single small hole and therefore patients avoid having to undergo high-risk open surgical procedures. He was the first physician in Northeast Houston to perform a carotid stent (placing a stent in the carotid artery) and was featured in the Houston Chronicle for this achievement.
Dr. Gnaim was also the first physician in Northeast Houston to perform a heart catheterization through the wrist. He now routinely does heart procedures by going through a small vessel in the wrist instead of going through the groin making the procedure and the recovery much more comfortable for patients.
Dr. Gnaim is also a vein specialist and is the Director of the Vein Center. He is able to treat patients with vein disease in the clinic using a minimally invasive approach that allows patients to go home same day and resume normal activities same day. Covidien, which is the largest vein medical device company in the world, has chosen Dr. Gnaim to serve as the only vein specialist in all of Houston/Greater Houston to serve as a Certified Proctor to help train other physicians, whom are flown in from all over the country, on how these procedures are performed.
